Johann Mozart

by Pastor Clinton Macomber

mozart

Johann Chrysostomus Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born in Austria on January 27, 1756. When 5 he wrote an advanced concert for the harpsichord. When six he was widely known as a child prodigy on the piano. When he was seven he could play the most difficult pieces of Bach and Handel. He wrote over 600 pieces. Several hymn tunes have been adapted from his work. He died of broken health when 35 (December 5, 1791) and was buried in a pauper's grave. His widow was so ill, she did not care to know where his remains were placed. A few friends got as far as the church, but did not go farther, due to a storm. It has been impossible to find his grave.
