God’s ways are much higher than man’s ways, and the same holds true for the calendar. Mankind has made various calendars used by various races and nations, but God provides the only calendar that is practical not only for farming and its acknowledgement of the seasons, but is built to enable man to have a better lifestyle with rest periods built in when most needed and when best to take.

The Berean Bible Heritage Reaching Schedule uses the beginning of the calendar taught in the Bible and ends when the Biblical year ends. Biblical New Years is Nisan 1 or Tuesday, Mar. 12, 2013. The last day of the calendar is Adar II 29 or Mar. 31, 2014.

Through years of reading the Bible through in a year, the way that works best is to distribute the reading into four sections, so every day a person can read out of the four sections: Old Testament, New Testament, Psalms, and Proverbs. Reading the portions out loud only takes about 15-20 minutes a day.

The best time to read the portion is when the Biblical day starts, just after sundown. We do ours generally at 7:30 p.m. This sets the tone for the evening and allows a person to meditate on Scripture when they fall asleep. The concepts read about are in better reach then the next day, and the hallowed time of reading is less able to be crowded out by those that overslept.

Reading the Word of God enables the child of God to exclaim with David:

Psalm 119:97–104 “O how love I thy law! It is my meditation all the day. Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies: For they are ever with me. I have more understanding than all my teachers: For thy testimonies are my meditation. I understand more than the ancients, Because I keep thy precepts. I have refrained my feet from every evil way, That I might keep thy word. I have not departed from thy judgments: For thou hast taught me. How sweet are thy words unto my taste! Yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth! Through thy precepts I get understanding: Therefore I hate every false way.”

I wish that everyone that calls themselves a Christian would jump up and shout this every day! Maybe we would be able to see a difference between the ungodly and the saved!
